DESCRIPTION
Neal E. Boyd won the America's Got Talent television show, and released his debut album in June 2009. America is not the best place to launch a classical crossover artist; the market is narrow and is extremely difficult to maintain momentum with only five different artists consistently featuring in their crossover chart. It is, therefore a huge error to launch Boyd exclusively to America: his debut album is titled My American Dream, and the first track is 'God Bless the USA' and has a heavily American arrangement of 'Amazing Grace'. His marketing campaign has his face set in front of a waving American flag; even his website has the American colours up. His potential could have been reached if he was launched worldwide but he won't be able to do this with such an Americanised album. It's also full of the most typical standards and it struggles to find its own identity. Boyd has a down to earth character, and his tenor-pop voice is soothing as his passion is almost impossible to miss. It all hangs on his next album - if he makes one.
