Sarena Paton has independently released her first classical crossover album this year, La Carissima, but she has enjoyed a long and varied career that has included music theatre, television and film. She has also released two other albums in a different genre. Her beautifully packaged album covers a few crossover standards, some unexpected classical pieces, and original pop songs, some co-written by Paton herself. Imagine Emma Shapplin singing in English and covering regular crossover material, and you have Sarena Paton. She has a very high soprano vocal, like Shapplin, her diction is clear (perhaps due to her time in music theatre) and her vocals are concise. Fans of lighter, relaxing, classical and pop music will find a lot to enjoy in Paton.
