Sissel has had a long and varied career, but made her international big break in 1997 as she provided her pure vocals to James Cameron's blockbuster epic Titanic which holds the record of the best-selling film soundtrack of all time. She remains a household name in her home country Norway and although she's not in the public consciousness in other countries, she's one of the biggest names in the crossover circuit. Her earlier releases were more geared towards pop, but classical influences became a lot more apparent as time went on. Vocally, she sounds like Hayley Westenra, Emma Shapplin or Sharon Den Adel as she has that same high, crisp clear sound. Musically, it would be more accurate to compare Sissel to Sarah Brightman as Sissel’s albums vary widely in terms of musical style.
