DESCRIPTION
Sarah Brightman
is the biggest-selling soprano of all time with a career that spans three decades and is most often considered to be the main pioneer of classical crossover. Brightman’s voice varies over different time periods; she was at her most operatic in the late nineties, but mostly uses her pop voice now which is often described as 'child-like' due to its sweetness and clarity. Brightman is a risk taker, is averse to being categorised (she has been quoted as saying that the "classical crossover" label is 'horrible') and a theatrical performer on stage. Her discography is immense (although she has 9 studio albums with her long term producer, Frank Peterson, she actually has over 20 albums) and they all vary in sound and style, so taking a lucky dip into her collection is not wise. Check out our guide to her discography for advice on where to start.
