DESCRIPTION
G4
was a vocal troupe that graced our senses in 2004, only to disband three years later in 2007. They were discovered on UK talent show The X-Factor and finished in second place, losing to Steve Brookstein (G4 famously went on to sell twenty-five times more than Brookstein). G4 consisted of four friends who all attended Guildhall School of Music and Drama (hence the "G"). Their unique quality was to create layers with their voices, putting emphasis on vocal arrangement more than the instrumental. This element began to slip as more time went on, but to hear G4 in their full glory, their debut album should be given a listen. G4 covered a wide variety of material such as pop, rock, glam, swing, opera and classical. Their style is accessible, and should be enjoyed by listeners that enjoy the "pop" in classical crossover. All of the members have a solo career in music; Jonathan Ansell has the highest profile having topped the classical chart with his albums, and Mike Christie is currently launching his recording career.
