DESCRIPTION
Katherine Jenkins is the biggest classical crossover star in the UK. All of her albums have topped the UK Classical Chart (her fifth and seventh albums did not qualify as classical, but reached number three and six respectively in the UK’s main album chart). Upon the release of her third album, Jenkins claimed all top three spots in the Classical Chart along with her previous releases. She released six studio albums in total under her UCJ contract in the space of only four years. Once her contract was up, Jenkins was immediately signed under Warner Music for a massive $10 million contract in a bid to crack America with legendary producer, David Foster, in tow. As a mezzo-soprano the deeper sound in her voice is warm and it sounds only slightly operatic, which makes her accessible. Her success can be attributed to her clean cut image (despite it being tarnished at the end of her UCJ contract though it was well recovered), her beauty, and her knack of churning out albums in quick succession. Her UCJ albums were very safe (hymns, traditional, classical, light pop covers), and always pleased parents and grandparents at Christmas time. Her latest album, Believe, with Warner Music, has taken a different direction towards a wider audience and is more daring than her previous albums.
