DESCRIPTION
Escala
entered the scene after they were invited to audition on the second series of Britain's Got Talent. They reached the finals but did not win, though Simon Cowell signed them anyway. Escala appeared at the right time as the band they emulate, Bond, had been inactive for several years (though they have recently woken up from their reverie and are making a comeback). Bond has been extremely successful, so the money was pretty much guaranteed for Cowell if he tried to throw Escala in their place. It appears that he took this too literally, as differences between the two are difficult to spot; their debut album does little to pull away from Bond. Although the girls can sound exciting on disc, they rely on gimmicks and style during their live performances. Due to signing up with Syco Records who give their artists little to no artistic control, Escala will have little chance to compete against the creativity of Bond, who have free reign over their material. Time can only tell.
